OVERVIEW of SBM Financial Group
SBM Financial Group is dedicated to providing
financial solutions to advance the goals of institutions, individuals
and small to middle
market businesses. The company operates out of four primary business
lines—Investment Products, Mortgage Services, Capital Management
and Principal Investments.
Investment Products
SBM Investment Products, the company’s
original line of business, offers fixed-rate Investment
Certificates primarily
to retail investors. These fixed-income securities are known as face-amount
certificates, and are
similar to bank CDs or fixed annuities, but are issued by registered
investment companies, similar to mutual funds. SBM Certificates are
sold by the company’s network of independent broker-dealers
nationwide.
The Investment Products division provides Certificateholder Services,
including all back-office operations, for the company’s face-amount
certificate operations. The division also provides Adviser Support
services to registered representatives and the broker-dealer network
that promotes the investment certificates.
SBM also offers Structured Investment
Products to institutional
investors. The institutional product line offers fixed-rate investment
notes, similar to SBM’s retail investment certificates, but
targeted to qualified institutional purchasers. The institutional
notes are issued not by one of the company’s registered investment
companies, but via private placement by special purpose vehicles
sponsored by SBM specifically for the purpose of issuing the notes.
Mortgage Services
SBM provides Home Loans to
borrowers through SBM Mortgage Corporation, its mortgage subsidiary.
SBM Mortgage offers numerous loan products for residential and commercial
loans,
and is licensed to conduct business
in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
Principal Investments
SBM’s Principal Investments group provides
or arranges financing for commercial real estate projects and asset-based
lending secured primarily by real estate for small and medium-sized
businesses. SBM also participates as a principal investor in private
equity and
debt opportunities.
Capital Management
SBM’s Capital Management division, established in 2003, provides
Investment Management and oversight to institutional and private
clients. The company’s dedicated capital management team is
focused on providing outstanding research, analysis and security
selection consistent with the investment objectives and risk/reward
parameters established by the client, both for equity and fixed income
portfolios.
For specific mandates, SBM Capital Management also partners with
leading investment advisory firms to tailor specific investment programs
for institutional investors, including pension funds and exempt investment
companies.
